Our standby travel efforts led us to be one of the last to be assigned to the rear economy cabin of a United Airlines Boeing 777-200, which is one of the long-haul workhorses of the United States fleet. It’s definitely a riding experience between the last trips and the biggest puzzle of this adventure (getting home) is about to fall into place.

Summer: Australia To San Francisco From Just Au$894!
We started immediately after the final passenger list documents were processed. I seem to have run through the Sydney International Departure Hall for nothing and we landed about 10 minutes past our scheduled departure time of 2.30pm. I had a sprinting cough that rose in my throat as I sat down in my seat. Nothing like a little drama to start the next 15 hours of flying.

Somehow, my sister, Mrs. WT73, and I were all at the back of the plane and all together in the same row in the middle. Unfortunately, there are no great views during take off due to being in the middle of the plane. Surprisingly, they updated the flight safety video to show passengers, crew and pilots in transit environments. One particular scene was filmed in a taxi, which I thought was quite amusing compared to United.
There was heavy rain throughout the day. The pilot informed the flight deck that the wind had caused the runway to change and that they were repositioning to another runway. During this announcement, the pilot showed a delay of 45 minutes. We ended up in the air in less than 35 minutes of pushing. During this delay, I ended up playing around with the moving map and flight path.
United Airlines To Launch Brisbane San Francisco Flights
Today’s flight service consists of a dinner, mid-flight snack and a breakfast service 1.5 hours before landing.
Today’s delicious dinner options are: carrots with peas, beef couscous or cheese tortellini. They were out of cheese tortellini by the time they got to our back row. This was accompanied by the much needed gin and tonic at that point ($8 USD).
Couscous is an interesting choice as a meal accompaniment. I don’t usually see it served on airplane menus. It’s a good light meal, but it tends to drip everywhere on the fork and that’s not all that filling on a long trip; which is a plus and a minus at the same time.
After dinner, I played advanced video on demand. United has improved its offerings and now offers video on demand. The last time I flew United Airlines Washington – Dubai, a few years ago, it was the usual stream of entertainment.
Qantas To Resume Flights From Nyc To Sydney After 3 Year Pause
At the time, their plane was equipped with individual screens that showed a series of films over and over again. The AVOD system has grown significantly since then with a very large selection of movies, TV shows and other content that can compete with the best companies in the world class. The Map feature isn’t very detailed, but it’s clearly useful.
After dinner, I ended up watching Die Hard. The cabin lights went dark around 5pm Sydney time.
I was devastated after the movie. A little bumpy, but a little tired from getting up early in the morning.
A mid-flight snack is provided with a cello-wrapped sandwich. It was a small crowd and not very crowded.

A breakfast service is provided before landing. The famous United sausage makes another appearance here. Overall, it’s actually not that bad. I’m glad we got two proper “economy” meals, but I was still hungry after getting off the plane.
I was the last to get off the plane thanks to the fact that I was in the last row and my cabin luggage was on the other side of the aisle.
