All of this may seem random, but it adds up to a lot. These are devices that feel sculpted to your hand, but combine premium materials with in-pack practicalities like wireless charging and water resistance and expandable storage (more on that later). They are supermodels, but with tomboy sensibilities.

First of all, the results of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are identical. Samsung releases them in the Sony and Samsung variants (my review models both have Sony sensors) but – unlike the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus – there’s no preferential treatment for a particular model.
The best news is focus time, which is blisteringly fast. As a result, ‘tap to focus’ is only used to change the focus point, rather than a fundamental part of the photography experience. This makes the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge the best point-and-shoot phone cameras available right now. They open quickly, focus even faster and produce excellent quality results with accurate colors and a surprisingly wide focus range.

The shot of the tree is a good example, showing how the Galaxy S7 Edge (right) can pick up details in the shadow inside the trunk, but overcast sky – two extreme light contrasts and most smartphones don’t like.
