I’ve been in a period of self-imposed exile from Google phones for a few years now, but I’ll admit that the Google Pixel 4a caught my eye – despite my initial reservations.
Galaxy S9 Vs Pixel 4a
I’ve always loved the pure Android experience that only a few Google smartphones can deliver. Having access to the latest OS updates without being at the mercy of the manufacturer’s release plans is always a boon, and I hate bloatware that’s built into other devices (I’m looking at you, Bixby).
Review: Google Pixel 4a
When the Google Nexus line was first announced over a decade ago, I couldn’t have imagined a more perfect match. A series of affordable yet innovative smartphones that take advantage of all the best parts of Android sold me and I threw myself into Google’s first ecosystem.
I am the proud owner of the Nexus 4, Nexus 7, and finally the Nexus 6P tablet, and I have nothing but fond memories of each of these devices. They hit the sweet spot of being strong enough without the high price tag.
When Google announced the Pixel lineup a few years later, I was quickly disappointed. I thought the lineup of phones was only going to get better, but instead of collaborating with tried-and-tested phone makers like LG and Huawei, Google went it alone.
He decided that he could make a better device himself, and he also believed that the phone now had a premium price that only Apple demanded.
Google Pixel 5a Vs Pixel 4a 5g: What’s The Difference And Should You Upgrade?
Under the #MadeByGoogle banner, first generation Pixel devices look their best. They’re plagued by a big chin and questionable build quality that just doesn’t go with Samsung or Apple.
This, unsurprisingly, left me quite irritated and, even worse, forced comparisons to high-end devices that I had previously overlooked because of the value of the Nexus lineup. As a result, I left my Google phone behind.
However, after using the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus for over a year, my head was once again recognized by the Google Pixel 4a. Not full, mind you, but enough to make me seriously consider picking up the much-talked-about Google phone.
For one, it’s competitively priced at $349 without being riddled with glaring caveats. If the supposed 5G model keeps its promise of being affordable, it could be a worthy upgrade from the old 4G phone.
Should You Buy A Samsung Galaxy S9 In 2021?
Leaked images of the phone’s design also have me pretty excited: the glaring chins of past Pixel models seem to be gone, and the camera will likely choose a punch-hole design instead of the dreaded notch Apple favored.
The reported 5.81-inch screen might seem small, but it’s probably more than enough for my needs. The only thought that the Pixel 4a might include a 3.5mm headphone jack is a
Win in the book too – I’m not ready to start using a dongle or proprietary pair of headphones anytime soon.
But what caught my attention is that the Pixel 4a can use the same camera as the Google Pixel 4, which is considered one of the best smartphone cameras. It might be missing some features, many of which could be pointless, but it certainly takes advantage of the smart Google software tricks that the Pixel camera offers.
Google Pixel 4a Review: Best In Class
I really miss the pure Android experience a lot. As great as the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus has been, I can’t stand Samsung’s useless apps and software. The sooner I can leave the Bixby button for good, which I accidentally activate at least once a day, the better.
With rumors that the Google Pixel 4a will be announced on August 3rd, it looks like I won’t have to wait long to know if my expectations will come true or if my isolation will continue for a few more years. Hopefully Google delivers the goods.

While it looks similar to the Pixel 4A, the Pixel 4A 5G has a bigger screen, bigger battery and dual rear cameras.
In August, Google announced the Pixel 4A, an affordable $349 (£349, AU$599) phone with an excellent camera. More recently, the company released the Pixel 4A 5G, a slightly larger phone with, you guessed it, 5G connectivity. The device costs more and was launched together with the Pixel 5.
The Pixel 5 (left) costs $699 (£599, AU$999), but both phones have the same camera, processor and overall look.
With a 6.2-inch screen, the Pixel 4A 5G (left) is the largest device among the three 2020 Pixel phones.

Another size comparison of the three Pixel phones. The Pixel 4A is at the top and is the smallest with a 5.81-inch screen.
Like most phones, the Pixel 4A 5G’s screen refreshes at 60 frames per second. If you want a higher refresh rate, which makes scrolling through newsfeeds and web pages smoother and more lively, then the Pixel 5 has a 90Hz display.
Aside from the Pixel 4A 5G’s slightly larger size, it looks almost identical to the Pixel 4A. Both have a smooth, matte design made from polycarbonate, also known as plastic.
Pixel phones run Android 11, and there isn’t a lot of new software that hasn’t been seen since the OS launched. These include Dark Mode, Quick Controls, built-in screen recorder and Google Assistant.

While both phones use a USB Type-C port for file transfer and charging, only the Pixel 4A 5G has a headphone jack.
The phone is equipped with a Snapdragon 765G processor and a 3,800mAh battery. Battery test on Pixel 4A 5G for continuous video playback in Airplane mode for an average of 22 hours and 30 minutes.
The Pixel 4A (front) only comes in black, while the Pixel 4A 5G comes in black and white.
While the Pixel 4A 5G (left) costs $150 more than the Pixel 4A (right), it might be worth it. In addition to being able to connect to the latest generation mobile network, it has a second ultrawide camera, a larger display and battery, and a slightly more powerful processor.
Google Pixel 4a 5g Review: More Than Just A Bigger Budget Phone
To see what makes all the 2020 Pixel and Pixel 4 phones different, check out this full spec roundup. You can watch the video, a Pixel 4A 5G and Pixel 5 spec comparison, for a deep dive into just the two new Pixel phones. As the price of phones has increased significantly over the past few years, the expectation for some to find a phone that is still available has diminished. quite a box, but it happens at a more appetizing price has become more common. It’s not that $1,000+ phones aren’t good or expensive, but something else.
That’s exactly where the Google Pixel 3a fits last year and again where the new Pixel 4a fits this year. It may be faster than expected, but Google has again delivered the Pixel experience at a fraction of the cost. In fact, this year the price is lower when adding more.
We’ve spent some time with one, so let’s dive in – here’s our Google Pixel 4a review.
You can’t talk about the Google Pixel 4a without mentioning the fact that it only costs $349.99. For this price, Google offers a large 5.8″ 1080p AMOLED screen, 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM, 18W fast charging, NFC, stereo speakers, 3.5mm headphone jack, 12 MP camera with optical image stabilization and three years. android update.
Google Pixel 7
There really isn’t a similar phone to compare the price and what you get (in the US). Motorola has a similar phone, but they’re almost stupid NFC hack or something stupid like that. Google also provides a level of software support that some even do with super phones, with software updates over the next few years and through various Android version upgrades.
For the past week, while I don’t like the Pixel 4a as much as the 3a, I’ve been trying to find a phone in the $400 price range that interests me, and I’m not sure. I can invent one. This looks like a solid package for the money.
