How Long Is A Bricklaying Course – The Level 2 Masonry Diploma is a one-year course and can be offered full-time or part-time to fit around your existing commitments.

You will need to hold a Level 1 Masonry Diploma and a functional skills qualification at the level required for the course.
What We’re Doing To Plug The Bricklaying Skills Gap
You will have an informal consultative interview with an architecture tutor. Your discussion with your tutor will last approximately 30 minutes and you will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the course content.

You will work towards 6 units of competence, a summary practice assignment and the end-of-year GOLA exam. To support your course, you will need to take an English course.

Bricklayer Apprenticeship Level 2
This CSKILLS/NOCN qualification is recognized by the construction industry as a training program but is not eligible for the award of a CSCS card.

Course Summary This course is a progression from the Level 1 study program to further develop masonry skills. It is about improving business skills to meet the needs of employers. The course consists of practical and theory and successful completion of both parts of the course is required to achieve this qualification. Employers will expect good attendance, good manners and good communication skills, enabling you to interact with customers, work safely, use initiative and masonry skills. As a university, we will reinforce the values expected by industry and equip students with the skills needed to succeed in work and life. Throughout the course, students will be assessed on their practical skills and subject knowledge. To achieve this qualification you must successfully complete all seven units in the course as well as an externally set knowledge test and practical summary. As part of this course, students can also complete functional skills; this aspect of the qualification may not be directly relevant to industry but will enhance their wider education. Each student will be encouraged to participate in enrichment activities.

How to be assessed Students are often assessed in practical and classroom settings. There are seven final theory unit tests, various practice models and final practical assessments. The final theoretical test is an online test of the knowledge acquired during the course.
Teaching style Trent College Stoke has some of the most comprehensive and modern facilities in the country. Learning takes place in a friendly and relaxed environment where all staff have industry knowledge gained through years of experience. If you want to study on your own, you can use one of the Learning Resource Centers or one of the special study workshops in English, maths and information technology. The workshop is large, spacious and well equipped. Students are required to undertake some research on an individual basis to support learning of the fundamentals of the course.
What can I do next After successfully completing the Masonry Level 2 degree programme, you will have the opportunity to enter the industrial sector. If you get a job in the trade you can become an apprentice and learn the Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard for Masonry.
