Hyatt Old Town Alexandria Va – There’s a new dog-friendly boutique hotel in town. The six-story, 124-room Hyatt Centric Old Town Alexandria (1625 King Street) opened Wednesday just blocks from the King Street subway station.
“Today we’re open 100%, 24/7 year-round. It’s very exciting,” said general manager Matt Caro. “As you know, Alexandria is one of the most dog-friendly cities in the country, and inside the rooms you’ll find some fun and quirky little things that celebrate man’s best friend.”

Designed by Alexandria-based architect Cooper Carey, the hotel is second only to the Hyatt Centric Arlington in Roslyn, Virginia. Rooms are small, and a typical king will run visitors $200 to $215 a night. The hotel’s junior suites (of which there are two) cost about $300 a night. Dog-related quirks include art on the walls and clothes hooks that look like a dog’s backside.

The hotel’s ribbon cutting was attended by Mayor Justin Wilson, City Council members and Alexandria Chamber of Commerce representatives.

The hotel opened a French and southern lobby bar and restaurant. The restaurant features French staples like duck confit and quiche, as well as Southern favorites including shrimp and grits.
“It’s a first-class restaurant. It’s exceptional,” said restaurant co-owner Steve Greczuk. “It’s a beautiful place, and it will be a lot of fun hosting out-of-town guests.”

The hotel’s many highlights include a fitness center, valet parking, lobby bar, and Indochen, an on-site restaurant serving Indo-Chinese comfort food. Plus, the hotel is pet-friendly, so bring your furry friends! Hyatt Centric also has an excellent staff who are friendly, responsive and efficient.
