Property giant Lendlease will offer to refurbish or buy up to 841 homes in Sydney’s western suburbs known as a sunken suburb.

Faster Growth, Fairer Growth: Liberating The Captured Economy

The company estimates that only 90 homes it is building in East Jordan Springs were damaged or destroyed due to structural problems.

Penrith City Council is warning residents and potential buyers that an independent investigation has found the suburb’s landfill is “underserved” and in decline.

The council initially added details to planning certificates to reflect concerns about the small number of homes, but gradually expanded the list of subject properties. The number of planning warnings increased significantly in September, from 195 to 841.

A spokesman for Guardian Australia said the company was trying to remove council tenancy notices from the “majority” of its clients’ properties, which Lendlease investigators believed were not related to structural problems.

The commissioner also said reports on Tuesday that Lendlease owned every house in the $600 million estate were false and that the number of properties it bought would assess the damage and ask owners if they wanted to renovate their homes or return their initial investment.

“Based on studies and expert advice, we are confident that the majority of properties will not be affected by over-dwelling, which has been accommodated in about 90 houses on the site’s Armory Road,” he said.

“In response to the council’s action, we have fully assured residents – there could be more than 90 – that we will support them if their property exceeds the Australian Standard requirements.”

Announcing the additional tenancy warnings in September, Penrith mayor Karen McCown said the council was “aware that such notices may worry some landlords and would like to reassure them that this decision will only be made after a thorough professional assessment and is in the best interest.” of all property owners”.

“We have a moral and legal obligation to ask current and future owners questions that may affect their property,” McCown said.

Lendlease had previously announced a compensation scheme for Jordan Springs East, but the latest move extends to all homes under planning notices, following reports of cracks and damaged property in the neighbourhood.
