Our Student Finance team is looking for a Scholarship Manager to play a key role in managing all aspects of scholarships to ensure alignment with institutional policies and strategic objectives. In this role, you will be responsible for scholarship budgets and goals, timely selection and accurate delivery of scholarships, meeting government management and reporting requirements, and continuous process and system improvement. An innovative research partnership has been established between Monash University and Melbourne-based start-up oNKo-innate Pty Ltd.
This unique partnership sees oNKo-innate, founded by Professor Nicholas Huntington and Dr Jai Rautela, based at the Monash Biomedical Discovery Institute (BDI). This partnership strengthens immunology and cancer research at BDI, and oNKo-innate is developing a novel approach to immunotherapy using expertise in natural killer (NK) cell biology.
This new partnership model reflects BDI Monash’s vision to foster an innovation-driven research environment where discovery researchers are encouraged to collaborate with industry and establish their own start-ups.
Monash BDI’s industry-based research income has grown significantly and is home to young biotech start-ups and spin-offs.

Monash BDI director Professor John Carroll said the arrival of the oNKo-innate team, which recently announced a major multi-year collaboration with Gilead, exemplified this approach.
“This is an excellent example of discovery research moving quickly into a major industry partnership to accelerate the development of new cancer treatments. This collaboration will improve health and create new jobs at the interface between research and commercial development for Some of Australia’s best young scientists.
Through this research partnership, oNKo-innate, a discovery-stage biotechnology company, will work toward the next big breakthrough in cancer immunotherapy. They use strategies that recruit, integrate, and activate a more diverse immune response to recognize and use the capabilities of NK cells to fight cancer.
Monash University and Monash BDI have a level of infrastructure, support and space that is unique among research areas in Australia. Professor Huntington said the team would be a perfect fit with the visionary commercialization team and the leadership team’s attitude.

Monash Innovation facilitated a partnership between Monash and oNKo-innate, part of the Entrepreneurship Suite at Monash University.
OnKo-innate may be a young startup, but the vision, expertise and true drive of its founders have caught the attention of Gilead, a market leader on the global stage.
