Car runs and drives well. I have a milk carton full of spare parts and a shop manual. Car needs exterior work. Needs paint and a little body work. The floors are fine. Some rust on chassis but not bad. Since I bought the car, I have been going to car shows and finding random bits of chrome because the chrome on the car was bolted on from when I bought the car. Several parts of the bumper, tail lights, headlight bezels, gunsights on the hood, Chevrolet lettering have been changed. There are still a few pieces left. The car also needs interior work. New seat covers, headliner and door panels. You can leave it there if you like. See pictures.

The car runs and drives – as it should. As you can see from the pictures, the wagon needs some work. I’ll be as honest as I can in describing the car: I found and installed several NOS chrome bits, including door handles, bumpers, tail light bezels, and headlight trim. All stainless trim is present – all polishing required. Small hole in left rocker panel. The body is perfectly straight, despite the evidence of body filler not being properly applied to the car’s blemishes. The car will need interior work: headliner, seat covers, door panels, etc. The car has great potential for the next owner. Most parts are readily available. Adjust it as you drive. Sold as is. The Chevrolet Nomad is based on the new Corvette design, with the same front end but a new shooting brake (two-door station wagon) body style behind the A-pillar.
The design proved so popular that it was given the green light for production, but on the Chevrolet A-body platform instead of the Corvette.
The production car kept the same design from the A-pillar to the rear but the front end was completely changed, now using the second generation Chevrolet Bel Air front and featuring Bel Air badges and trim.
Other than the Corvette, the Nomad was the most expensive production car offered by Chevrolet in 1955. Fitted with a 265 cubic inch V8 as standard, a 283 cubic inch V8 was also available.

A year later in 1956, Ford introduced the new Ford Parklane as a competitor to the Nomad, although it only lasted a year in production despite outselling the Chevrolet by nearly two to one.
Known as the “Shooting Brake” in Europe, this two-door body style was dubbed the “Sports Wagon” by Chevrolet.
1957 would be the last year for the first-generation Nomad, two future Chevrolets would wear the Nomad badge but both would be standard four-door wagons with no real connection to the first car other than the name.
