The PTA Department began using the APTA-sponsored Centralized Application System (CAS) for its admissions process on March 1, 2021. Applicants can apply from December 1 to May 15 each year. Submit all materials by May 15th. Please request that your transcripts be sent to PTA CAS and State Admissions as soon as spring classes are released. The College’s Physical Therapy Assistant program prepares students to enter the healthcare workforce as a physical therapy assistant with an Associate in Applied Science degree. The program strives to provide our students with a quality education that supports professional healthcare practice while maintaining established clinical practice guidelines as outlined by the APTA, and that emphasizes graduate professional education. The Physical Therapist Assistant program will offer students an affordable, quality education and provide competent, professional and employable local and regional health care providers. Workplaces require compliance with New York State Department of Health and applicable OSHA regulations. This means that a physical examination with proof of immunization is required for each student prior to admission to the program, and the physical examination must be updated annually and must be current for the duration of each clinical trial. Each student is responsible for obtaining individual health insurance prior to each clinical field. Personal liability and malpractice insurance of $1 million in per-occurrence coverage is negotiated by the Academy for each clinical branch and paid for by the student for a specific program fee.
