November 26 is White Ribbon Day, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and local Port Macquarie businesses are raising awareness for the cause with all office staff on their heels on November 17.
Port Macquarie store manager Jade Holstein said Radio Rentals was happy to participate in this campaign because it’s a national issue that needs to be tackled.

“Domestic violence is often hidden and therefore it is very difficult to understand the real impact on our communities. White Ribbon statistics show that domestic violence is widespread nationally and far and wide. Every community, including Port Macquarie, has been touched in some way,” said Holstein.
Ms Holstein said the Radio Rentals team in Port Macquarie became White Ribbon advocates because many people in the local community, including our clients, are affected by domestic violence.
“Wear-a-Pair is really about active participation, it’s about our staff being actively involved in activities together and it brings us together as a team.
“In short, the Wear-a-Pair campaign is about empathy and taking a stand against domestic violence in our community,” she said.

“Many customers have told us they are happy to see Radio Rentals supporting White Ribbon locally as there are many people in Port Macquarie who have been affected by domestic violence.
“There are many organizations and support services in the area that help women face domestic violence, but it makes us feel good as a team to know that we are part of the solution. We want to send the message that you are not alone.”
Port Macquarie MP Leslie Williams, who came to visit, said Radio Rentals was a winner because it was in a good way.
“The Wear-a-Pair initiative is all about putting men in heels and raising funds and awareness about domestic violence, because unfortunately, no matter where you live across Australia, from regional communities to metropolitan communities, domestic violence is an absolute scourge. us, and that’s unacceptable,” Williams said.

This White Ribbon Day, Ms Williams is calling on all members of the Port Macquarie community to stand up and take active action to stop the continuing violence.
“White Ribbon Day is a reminder for all of us to be aware of the impact of domestic violence, not just on the women or men involved, but often there are children involved and the violence just has a negative ripple effect in our community.
“So this White Ribbon Day I think we all need to make sure it’s part of our conversation, make sure it’s out in the open, make sure we speak up and make sure we can continue to support those affected by violence,” he said.
