Lara’s mother, Amelia, went missing several years ago but was not officially declared dead. As a result, Atlas sent Lara a final notice to cease her ownership of Croft Manor and to vacate the premises and hand it over to Atlas. Mostly, Blood Ties is about walking somewhere, picking up and reading (or listening to read) about 40 documents that exemplify the Croft family.
The writing is good, and the ending is terrible, but the whole experience is cooler than the main Rise of the Tomb Raider game. It is best suited for those who want a slow pace. This is not the tomb that Lara Croft is raiding. It does not extend the main story of Rise of the Tomb Raider, taking place between the chapters of the game, but it leads to a real result.
There’s an action item packed into Bloodline called Lara’s Nightmare, though it’s minor enough that it’s not recommended on its own. Lara’s Nightmare is an alternative game to the Atlas-Want-Croft-Manor story where Lara has to fight her way through the mansion, shooting zombies and floating skulls along the way.

Lara’s Nightmare is set on the same Manor map as Blood Ties, but works like any other Rise of the Tomb Raider Expedition experience, meaning players can customize their experience with virtual cards. Some cards make Lara or her weapons more or less powerful. Others affect the enemy. The big surprise with the new and added content is that there are original Tomb Raider skins from the PlayStation era that you can apply to Lara.

Releasing new content for Rise of the Tomb Raider can be a little confusing.
