Taking a step back in history, Twin Cities Public Park, surrounded by Coral and Boundary Streets, is where my parents first lived with my two sisters when they moved to Tweed Heads in the 1960s. This was the former border caravan park at 214. Very popular salons that were unfortunately closed. It is now a pleasant waterfront park with restrooms, boardwalks over the harbor, picnic areas, and playgrounds. In fact, $8.5 million went to stage one of the work around the Jack Evans Boat Harbor, which has a safe tidal inlet for swimming, fishing and boating. Plans for phase two include a native botanical garden and a public art program.
Now, for more recent history, Twin Towns RSL was also where I saw my first live musical thanks to my big sister.
So I’m a little biased. The RSL’s large buffet restaurant with its 360 degree view also got me a holiday waiter job years ago. But no doubt, it’s a fun place. We will be back again with extended family now that we have rediscovered it. Maybe next time we encourage couples to the dance floor?
