Located next to the Acropolis and the Temple of Zeus, the luxurious Athens Gate Hotel is an ideal place to stay in the city.
The Athens Gate Hotel Restaurant
I had the pleasure of staying in Athens for a week earlier this year – from my spacious suite to the delicious food, from the breathtaking view on the roof terrace to the impeccable service of the staff – check out my review of the hotel!

Athens Gate Hotel is located in the heart of the Greek capital, in the historic Plaka of Athens. The hotel is located on Singru Avenue, a 10-minute walk from the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum, and across the street from Hadrian’s Arch and the Temple of Olympian Zeus. Syntagma Square and Monastiraki are also nearby.
Conveniently, the local supermarket is only a few minutes’ walk away, and there are many restaurants nearby, including Indian, Italian and Greek!
Transport connections are excellent – you can catch the metro from Acropoli station, which is only 200 meters from the hotel. There is also a bus stop in front of the hotel.
The hotel staff – from the doorman to the waiter in the restaurant, everything is very friendly and pleasant. Check in and check out was very smooth and only took a few minutes.

Following the Covid-19 pandemic, the hotel has implemented several health and safety measures to ensure the well-being of all staff and guests.
I was upgraded to a superior suite and it was worth every penny – I was given a free welcome basket of snacks when I arrived, compliments of the general manager, which was nice!
The apartment was very modern and spacious and had a balcony with an amazing and unforgettable view of the Acropolis.
The hotel provided a number of amenities, including a flat-screen LCD TV, fridge and minibar in the room.

The hotel’s rooftop terrace is definitely its selling point! It offers a 360° view of the entire city with the magnificent Acropolis on one side and the Temple of Zeus on the other as far as Mount Lycabettus.
A complimentary breakfast is served daily at the rooftop restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. The choice of food is huge – from cereals and pastries to fruits and pastries, from hot to cold dishes – you will be fully energized to start each day! The Athens Gate Hotel is a beautiful modern hotel and was recently chosen for my autumn holiday stay.
Looking for the perfect cultural immersion on your next trip to Athens? The location of Athens Gate Hotel is unique and couldn’t be better. The hotel overlooks the Temple of Zeus, a 20-minute walk to the Acropolis, and is very close to the Acropolis Museum, the tourist-famous Plaka, and most of the city’s attractions. If you want to see more of the city, the Hop On/Hop Off bus stops 50 meters from the front door. Acropolis Metro Station is a three-minute walk away, with a direct Blue Line connection to Athens International Airport and a Green, direct Metro/Train connection to Piraeus Port, where you’ll most likely disembark in Greece. Islands.
The taxi driver dropped me off in front of the large glass front door. After greeting an attentive porter and collecting my luggage, I followed him to the reception desk where I checked in. Greek hospitality is felt when you walk through the front door and enter the lobby. Meanwhile, the waiter offers me a welcome treat – a Greek delight and a refreshing glass of water.

After a hassle-free 5 minute check in, I rushed to the room with the keys to unpack. I can’t say I want to see the interior as I know many of the rooms and suites well from previous stays. This is my 5th visit to Athens Gate Hotel.
The reception opposite the lobby offers a wall-mounted fireplace for cold winters, with seating on either side. The spacious living area is comfortable and elegant and perfectly suits his style.
All 99 rooms have balconies with different views depending on the room type and aspect. I take the elevator up to my room, which will host me for the next three nights. Room 611 is a standard size and, like the others, is spotless with a minimalist feel. Compared to the Suite 703 we had last year, there is almost no difference in size. The highlight was the huge terrace and the slightly bigger bathroom.
A comfortable double bed, this time with fresh linen and thick pillows all to myself. Nothing less than I expected from my stay. Black-and-white travel photos adorning the room’s walls transport guests to various Greek destinations and the main attractions of Athens.
Best Things To Do After Dinner In Athens
I never had a problem with outside noise due to the double glazed windows and the high level of the room.
It is equipped with a flat-screen satellite TV, adjustable air-conditioning, a stocked minibar and safe, and tea-making facilities. But the bags with a cup of coffee stick are missing! For coffee, you have to come to the bar to buy the coffee of your choice. Rooms are also equipped with an electronic “Do Not Disturb / Set Room” sign system located on the door. Free Wi-Fi in the entire area!
The tiled bathroom had a large shower and bath, with plenty of space under the sink and a stand for my toiletries. Towels are bright as always and changed on request.
Amenities like slippers, hair dryer, magnifying mirror, hair and body products, body, hand and face towels were there for you. The dress was lost but I got it within 5 minutes with a call. Toiletries, popular Olivia products for more pampering!
Roof Top Bar
The Athens Gate Hotel doesn’t have a spa like other hotels I visit, so I decided to take advantage of the afternoon free time to take a nice hot aromatic salt bath during my stay. To save time, I quickly unpacked my luggage and headed into town to buy the right products to help me relax and spice up my stay.
I need a salt bath, face masks and an aroma diffuser. Half an hour later, I returned to the hotel with all of the above and created a perfect atmosphere with an orange blossom scented diffuser. I first sterilized my tub with the proper fluids I usually carry with me, filled it with hot water, sprinkled a third of the pink bath salts, put on some soft music and soaked in the hot tub for at least an hour.
A long soak in the hot tub was the perfect antidote for me, the soothing properties of rose petals helping to relax my body and muscles while filling the bathroom with its lovely floral scent.
On the eighth floor of the Athens Gate Hotel, the roof top restaurant extends to a sparkling terrace, open air in the warmer months, with a spectacular view of the Temple of Zeus below and the Acropolis just above. I took advantage of the great weather to have breakfast and dinner outside on the terrace.
Athens Gate Belize
After a major renovation in January, Athens Gate Hotel’s rooftop restaurant will be revamped by March. Until then, I’ll be back and can’t wait to see his new trendy look!
The lobby bar serves snacks and drinks from 12:00. In the evening, with the lights on, it turns into a romantic à la carte restaurant with Mediterranean cuisine. I was here as a food critic and met the new chef Evdokia Filakouri and tried some of her dishes and it did not disappoint. The service was exceptional and the restaurant team welcoming and friendly.
Athens Gate Hotel’s rooftop restaurant serves American-style cuisine featuring Greek produce, cheeses, olives, yogurt, breads, pitas, and jams.
I enjoyed a variety of cold cuts and fried eggs for two days, ordering an omelette one morning to test the quality and presentation. I miss grilled dishes and dried tomatoes that I ate in previous years. I loved the fresh multigrain bread every morning.
