Every night except Saturday night, overnight sleeper trains with 12-berth private compartments and lounge cars connect London Paddington Station with towns, cities and holiday destinations across Ireland. The Sleeper Train That Takes You From Central London To One Of Cornwall’s Most Beautiful Seaside Towns
After a major renovation in 2018, this beautiful sleeper train is a traveling hotel, with private bedrooms or a few compartments and lounge cars. Close but cozy sleeping, with upper & lower bunks in twin rooms or just a lower bunk in single rooms, as well as a bathroom with hot and cold water. The bed is equipped with a duvet (rather than a traditional blanket), fresh clean sheets and fluffy pillows. Each passenger is provided with soap, a towel & a small bottle of mineral water. Compartment doors can now be locked from the outside with a hotel style card key when you go to the toilet or lounge car – your door will open when you board, you will find your card key on the table above. from the sink. There are two toilets at the end of the corridor in each sleeping car that you can use even if the train is standing at the station. The fee includes a light breakfast with tea or coffee & a bacon roll or cereal, served by your steward in your compartment at the time you specify. Hours In… St Ives
There is a lounge car for sleeping passengers with tables & chairs and a buffet counter selling wine, beer, spirits, soft drinks and snacks. Free tea, coffee & water for sleeping passengers. The lounge opens as soon as the train starts boarding and stays open all night. A separate bar counter at the other end serves seat passengers, who need to bring food and drinks back to their seats.

Update On Rail Disruption Over The Next Few Days

The Pullman restaurant is available from Monday to Friday, eastbound on the 05:05 Golden Hind from Penzance to London, the 10:00 Cornishman from Penzance to London and the 16:00 Penzance to London. There’s something special about Pullman dining, and a trip to the famous sea wall in Dawlish is a real treat as you enjoy perhaps the best (and one of the few remaining) restaurant car services in Britain. First class passengers are accommodated in the Pullman dining area in the restaurant car when breakfast, lunch or dinner is served. If seats are still available, standard class passengers may also use a Pullman dining car.
The Night Riviera sleeper train conveniently connects in Penzance with the ferry to the Isles of Scilly, approximately 28 miles from the Cornish mainland.
Cornwall Set To Have £3m Track Upgrade On The St Ives Bay Line
The Scillonian III will set sail from Penzance on a fine September morning, with Mount Michael in the background. She was built in 1977, replacing the Scillonian II (1956) and the original Scillonian from 1926. Commentary explains the points of interest and the ferry around the Cornish coast. There is a bar and cafe serving full English breakfasts and other hot meals.

The train only goes as far as Penzance, but the bus will take you the last 10 miles to Land’s End, where you’ll find cliff-top walks, hotels, restaurants and bars, tourist shops and various exhibitions.

By all means take the southbound Eurostar or the earlier northbound Eurostar, if this has cheaper seats or if you want to stop in London.

This route will take you past the stunning coastal path in Dawlish and over Brunel’s Royal Albert Bridge as you travel into Cornwall.
Book your London-Penzance ticket on the Great Western Railway website up to 12 weeks in advance. The cost on the day is usually more expensive.
Penzance is an ideal base for exploring the St Ives Bay Line, Mount Michael and the beautiful beaches of the South West.
At Penzance station (TR18 2LT), buy your ticket to St Ives. No need to book in advance – the price is the same if you buy on the day. Look up times.
